Since the summer of 2016, ConnectIn Groups started to focus on the education of children. Throughout our track, this group has become one of our cornerstones. Our aim is not only to teach children a language, but to create a community in which children interact with other cultures and learn its positive aspects. As our team members all have different cultural backgrounds, and as we have a regular flow of interns and volunteers from different parts of the world, children get in touch with different people, learning all about diversity.
We teach values through our campaigns: “Go Green! Help Clean” & “Eat the Best, Leave the Rest!”
For example, at ConnectIn Groups we strive to introduce children with topics that concern us all. One of these is environment and climate change. From an early age children have to learn what are the consequences of pollution and waste and what they can do about it. That is why we started our own campaign “Go Green! Help Clean”. Together with the children we stared cleaning our school’s surroundings and planing plants and trees, to serve as an example for other communities.
Additionally, one of our concerns is food. Usually children in Siwa from an early age, consume a lot of snacks and soda drinks, which contain a lot of harmful sugars. We therefore have a policy of “Eat the best. Leave the rest!” which prohibits any processed snacks at school. Instead, children are encouraged to eat fruits, drink plenty of water and only eat sweets that are prepared with natural ingredients or made at home.
